1st Festival:
More than a dozen concerts and a course featured in this special event theld from December 7, 2013 to January 5, 2014 in the Teatro Timanfaya, the Anglican church and the Iglesia de la Peña de Francia. Puerto payed homage to the renowned German composer with the Puerto de la Cruz Bach Festival.
The pianist Javier Laso played the Goldberg Variations BWV 988; “En tiempos de Bach” (“In times of Bach”) with Carles Fibla on Baroque violin and Mar Tejadas on clave; the Coral Reyes Bartlet sang sing under the direction of the Flemish director Erik Van Nevel, joined by David Martel on organ; Juan Carlos Baeza on bass and Diego Pérez on cello; a concert by the instrumental group, La Ritirata with Daniel Oyarzábal on clave; Tamar Lalo on the flute and Josetxu Obregón, who directed the group as well as playing the cello; “Concierto de las Nueve Lecturas” (Concert of Nine Readings) involving the David Goldsmith youth choir, the Coral Reyes Bartlet, Nayra Marco played the church organ; "Bach Round Midnight” concert; Mark Peters performed the 6 six cello suites written; Trio Melolas played the Goldberg Variations BWV 988 in the arrangement for a string trio by Dmitry Sitkovetsky.
Apart from these concerts, the festival also offered complementary events, including a course of musical interpretation from Erik Van Nevel; a concert for parents and children, called “Back to Bach”; a concert for school-childrencalled “Bailando con los Bach” or “Dancing with Bach”; a gathering of young choirs to interpret “Cantata de Navidad” with arrangemens by Anna Magdalena Bach.

Association), Centre of Tourist Initiatives for Puerto de la Cruz and the local council in collaboration with Tenerife Cabildo, Teatro Timanfaya, Librería Masilva, Hotel Beatriz Atlantis, Restaurante Régulo and Colorym. |
