History & Mission: |
The annual music festival Bachwochen Dill was founded in 1975 under the previous name Dillenburger Bachwoche. For many years, from an original festival has developed a festival, which extends over the whole of November. The name Bachwoche was a focus for the fact that almost no composer after J.S. Bach could have escaped his influence, and his traces are seen everywhere. No more than a few works of J.S. Bach have been performed in the Bachwochen; but usually a motto hung over the annual Bachwochen Dill in November. In the previous 30 years, a number of musical works of J.S. Bach has been performed. The number of the performed works and the appearing artists can hardly be nominated. The event is led artistically since its foundation in 1975 by Wolfgang Schult. The Bachwochen Dill has given the opportunity and has discovered many renowned and lesser-known artists in their early stages. Many now world-renowned ensembles and soloists began their careers here. |
