History & Mission:

The mission of the Denver Bach Society is to support understanding and enjoyment of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach through excellent performance in a variety of media and settings, as well as through educational outreach.

The Denver Bach Society was created in the summer of 2000 at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral in the 250^th anniversary year of the death of J.S. Bach. The first season included performances of Cantata BWV 80, Lute Suite #2, the Violin Concerto in A major, the Well-Tempered Clavier, and the B Minor Mass (BWV 232). Since its founding the scope and outreach of the Society has extended to the entire Denver metropolitan area, involving a wide array of artists, venues and educational programs.

Each season the society sponsors a festival, a major educational outreach program, and a number of smaller events to bring the music of Bach to the Denver community.

The Denver Bach Society BachFest is held from in February-March in various venues throughout the Denver metropolitan area. The programs includes solo organ recitals, a wide array of orchestral masterpieces Denver's finest chamber orchestras, magnificent soloists. For complete program details, please see the Events page.
