The mission of the Denver Bach Society is to support understanding and enjoyment of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach through excellent performance in a variety of media and settings, as well as through educational outreach.
The Denver Bach Society was created in the summer of 2000 at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral in the 250th anniversary year of the death of J.S. Bach. The first season included performances of Cantata BWV 80, Lute Suite #2, the Violin Concerto in A major, the Well-Tempered Clavier, and the B Minor Mass (BWV 232). Since its founding the scope and outreach of the Society has extended to the entire Denver metropolitan area, involving a wide array of artists, venues and educational programs.
Each season the society sponsors a festival, a major educational outreach program, and a number of smaller events to bring the music of Bach to the Denver community.
The Denver Bach Society BachFest is held from in February-March in various venues throughout the Denver metropolitan area. The programs includes solo organ recitals, a wide array of orchestral masterpieces Denver's finest chamber orchestras, magnificent soloists. For complete program details, please see the Events page.
