This book is the first biography and monography about the American soprano Arleen Augér (1939-1993).
Arleen Augér was, among other things, by working together with Helmuth Rilling and Nikolaus Harnoncourt, one of the leading Bach singers of the 20th Century, and also as a Mozart interpreter she has set standards with Leonard Bernstein, Karl Böhm and Leopold Hager. Especially as a recitalist, she was a leader in her generation. Arleen Augér: one of the best documented sopranos of the 20th Century, her recordings are still regarded as the reference recordings, a singer who was well known and appreciated, but very private to the outside and therefore never popular, an artist who has applied standards in her work and consistently trod her own path.
This richly illustrated monograph on the 20th anjniversary of Arleen Augér’s death retraces the life of the artist and gives its forward-looking statements on the subjects of vocal training, singer-His repertoire design and detail space.
