Anne-Kristin Zschunke (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Berlin, Germany

The German mezzo-soprano, Anne-Kristin Zschunke, first learned the profession of physiotherapist. She completed her singing studies in Leipzig and at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. She completed her studies with Kerstin Wahlström-Olsson in Stockholm.

Anne-Kristin Zschunke has been working freelance for years as a concert soloist and ensemble singer. Her great passion is the ensemble singing. She is a frequent guest at Collegium Vocale Gent (Director: Philippe Herreweghe), Rundfunkchor Berlin, Vocalconsort Berlin, Cappella Amsterdam (Director: Daniel Reuss), the Swedish Radio Choir, SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart and Dresdner Kammerchor (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann).

As a soloist, Anne-Kristin Zschunke has collaborated with conductors such as René Jacobs, Hermann Max, Jos van Veldhoven, Ottavio Dantone, Robert Hollingworth, Gary Cooper and Marcus Creed.

Obn the opera stage, Anne-Kristin Zschunke has been involved in several productions by Sasha Waltz. So she sang, for example at the world premiere of Pascal Dusapin's Medea under the baton of Marcus Creed at the Grande Théâtre de Luxembourg, the Staatsoper Berlin and the Koninklijk Theater Carré Amsterdam. Under the same direction she was heard on Passion by Dusapin with Ensemble Modern and Frank Ollu at the Théatre des Champs-Elysées in Paris and at La Monnaie in Brussels.

Through this regular collaboration with the dance company of Sasha Waltz, Anne-Kristin Zschunke was able to combine both professions. In addition to the artistic work on stage, the dancers appreciate her physiotherapeutic treatments.
