Franz Wagnermeyer (Trumpet)

Born: 1962 - Passau, Bavaria, Germany

The German trumpeter, Franz Wagnermeyer, received his musical education at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz, Austria; and continued his trumpet studies with Professor Adolf Holler at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna. He graduated in 1992, unanimously granted with distinction. In recognition of this excellent result, he was awarded the Appreciation Prize of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Science and Research. Furthermore, he was given the chance to perform a solo concerto in the Vienna Konzerthaus. in the following years, he perfected his studies with Bo Nilsson (Malmo), Pierre Thibaud (Paris) and Otto Sauter (Bremen).

Franz Wagnermeyer plays with many different ensembles and orchestras in Germany and abroad. He has played with the Camerata Academica Salzburg, Mozarteum Orchestra of Salzburg, Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, as well as the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Vienna, Wiener Symphoniker and Bruckner Orchestra Linz. His artistry as chamber musician and soloist is in constant demand and has resulted in performances in six different countries. He has also been engaged by the Salzburg Festival and "Neue Oper Wien", and has substituted in the Passau Municipal Theatre for many years.

As a soloist Franz Wagnermeyer has given concerts at renowned festivals such as the Beethovenfest in Bonn, Musica Sacra in Rome, and the Wartburg Festival. Not only does he perform all over Europe, but his engagements have also taken him to Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Australia and the USA. He has also played several concert tours on board the luxury cruise ship MS Europa.

Franz Wagnermeyer has collaborated on numerous CD and radio recordings as a soloist and member of various ensembles, including the international formation "Ten of the Best".

In his work as a music pedagogue, Franz Wagnermeyer has been invited to speak at numerous international seminars (including Illinois State University, Bruckner University Linz, Mid Europe in Schladming, Summer Workshop Bad Goisern). He was the organiser and artistic director of the Euregio Brass Festivals in 2005 and 2006. He currently holds the positions of Professor of Trumpet at the Musikschule Schärding, and solo trumpet with both the Südbøhmischen Kammerphilhamonie and Martinu Orchester - Brün (both orchestras as of 2003).
