Born: Germany
The German tenor, Peter Straka, studied at the Conservatory of Düsseldorfer and at the Cologne College of Music and supplemented his training at the International Opera Studio Zürich.
Today he is ensemble member of the Opera House Zürich, where he participated in a Monteverdi and later in a Mozart cycle. Both in Zürich and as a guest Peter Straka has gained an extensive opera repertoire. Apart from the tenor roles of most of Janacek, he appeared in operatic roles such as Tamino, Idomeneo, Titus or Florestan, the Alfred in Die Fledermaus or Alwa in Lulu.
In addition Peter Straka is guest of international opera and concert stages. In addition to Opera Houses in New York, Théâtre Chatelet or the Bastille Opera in Paris, the State Opera of Berlin, Covent Garden in London, and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. In 1993 Peter Straka sang at the Salzburg Festival under the direction of Nikolaus Harnoncourt as Lucano in Monteverdi’s Poppea. As a concert singer Peter Straka has already appeared with Philharmonia Orchestra London under Lorin Maazel, Münchner
Philharmoniker under Sergiu Celibidache, Bayerischer Rundfunk Symphonieorchester under Sir Colin Davis, the Concentus Musicus Wien under Nikolaus Harnoncourt, and the Nouvel Orchestre Philharmonique Paris under Eliahu Inbal.
