Sinfonietta Tübingen (Chamber Orchestra)

Founded: 1984 - Tübingen, Germany

Since its foundation, 21 year ago the Sinfonietta Tübingen has given nearly each second week an appearance. This is an impressive achievement, considering that the members of the orchestra are professional musicians and work full-time as lecturers at the Tübinger Musikschule. The conductor of the Sinfonietta Tübingen is Rüdiger Bohn in Tübingen.

With the program selection the special interest are works of the "classical" modern era from early 20th Century. The orchestra is characterised in addition by its variable occupations. Apart from the symphonic concerts, the Sinfonietta Tübingen appears also as a chamber orchestra or with a pure wind-instrument programme, it gives in addition regularly church concerts and accompanies also choirs with their performances of choral-symphonic works.

Since the appearance of the first CD with works of Béla Bartók and Paul Hindemith the orchestra is was given on professional yardsticks, "promising entrance" title such as the technical periodical "Fono Forum" in April 1992. Second CD with works of Schumann, 1st Symphony and J. Sibelius, 4th Symphony appeared in autumn 1995. Numerous concert tours, thus for example to Greece, Spain, France and Italy, as well as several recordings of the concerts of the Sinfonietta Tübingen by the Südwestdeutschen Rundfunk und das SDR Fernsehen the television witness on the artistic quality of the orchestra.
