The English soprano, Cressida Sharp, studied through her teens at the Junior Royal Academy of Music, and went on to a Classics degree at Cambridge, singing for three years as a choral scholar. Her professional career began while still a student.
After graduating in 2011, Cressida Sharp began her career principally as a soloist, in oratorio and in youth opera with work in small ensembles.. Christmas 2014 introduced her to the world of professional chamber choirs, when she joined the Zürcher Sing-Akademie (Director: Florian Helgath). Others followed, including the Monteverdi Choir (Director: John Eliot Gardiner); BBC Singers (Director: Sofi Jeannin); EXAUDI (Director: James Weeks); Balthasar-Neumann-Chor (Director: Thomas Hengelbrock); Swedish Radio Choir (Director: Kaspars Putniņš); Vox Luminis (Director: Lionel Meunier); Cappella Amsterdam (Director: Daniel Reuss); La Cetra (Director: Andrea Marcon); and Ensemble Corund (Director: Stephen Smith).
Meanwhile, her solo work continues, recently with the Freiburger Barockorchester (Director: René Jacobs); Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich (Director: Paavo Järvi); and Luthers Bach Ensemble (Director: Tymen Jan Bronda). Over the past few years, J.S. Bach engagements have taken her to Israel, Belgium, the Netherlands and South Korea. |
