Holger Schumacher (Tenor)

Born: Germany

The German lyric tenor, Holger Schumacher, studied singing at the Akademie für Tonkunst Darmstadt with the completion of the artistic maturity (KA). He attended master-classes with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, in the framework of the International Bach-Akademie in Stuttgart with Kurt Equiluz and Scot Weir, as well as at the European Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Montepulciano with Monica Pick-Hieronimi.

Holger Schumacher performs in Germany and abroad with emphasis on the oratorios of J.S. Bach, George Frideric Handel, Mozart and Felix Mendelssohn, but also with modern works. This led to the collaboration with renowned orchestras such as the Musici di Praga, Hofer Symphoniker and Lukas Barockorchester Stuttgart.

Opera engagements have led Holger Schumacher to the Opernfestspielen Bad Hersfeld, the Mozart Festival in Zweibrücken, the Opern-Air-Festival Nürtingen and the Karlsruher Schlosskonzerten, among others. A significant part of his activities is devoted to Lieder singing. He has appeared as a guest at the Internationalen Bodensee-Festival, Musiksommer Schloss Rastatt and the Roggenburger Sommer, etc. In 2007 he appeared with a recital of Lieder and arias from the Baroque to Romanticism.
