Julian Schulzki (Bass)

Born: Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

The German bas, Julian Schulzki, studied singing at the Musikhochschule Köln with Klesie Kelly-Moog. Already during his studies, he appeared at the Jungen Kammeroper Köln as Don Alfonso in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, the Theatern Solingen und Remscheid as Bartolo in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and the Rutgers Opera, USA. He perfected his vocal training in numerous master-classes, and he also attended the opera studio of the Milan Scala. He was a scholarship holder of the Richard-Wagner-Verband Köln and is a laureate of the Podium Junger Gesangsolisten.

Since 2004, Julian Schulzki has been and still is regularly heard at the Oper Köln, whose opera studio he was in 2006. He was heard there in in numerous children's operas as well as in Lohengrin, Don Carlo, La Traviata, Rigoletto, Otello, Die Kluge (3rd tramp) and L.v. Beethoven's Fidelio (2nd prisoner). Since 2006 he has been a permanent guest at the Oper Münster.

In concert, Julian Schulzki has developed a wide repertoire from the Baroque to the Modern. So he joined, for example, Helmut Müller-Brühl in performances of J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion BWV 244 in Cologne and Paris and participated in CD recordings of these works with the Kölner Kammerorchester. Other concert tours have taken him to Rome, Prague and Salzburg.
