The Argentinean pianist, Hugo Schuler, graduated in Musical Arts from the Universidad Nacional de las Artes, he began his training with the teachers Aldo Antognazzi and Guillermo Scarabino. He perfected himself in Europe with teachers such as Alicia de Larrocha and Tensy Krismant, and carried out postgraduate studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Música del Liceo de Barcelona. He was also taught and guided by other distinguished Maestros such as Jordi Mora and Christoph Schlüren. Distinguished with 1st prizes at the most relevant piano competitions in Argentina, such as International "Pau Casals" Competition, "Festivales Musicales" Biannual Competition, C.E.P. Competition, "Alberto Williams" Competition and Frederic Chopin National Competition, he also obtained important prizes at European competitions which contributed to consolidate his international career.
Hugo Schuler stands out as one of the most prominent Argentinian pianists of his generation. Portrayed as a "fascinating pianistic phenomenon" and a "giant of Bach's interpretation of our days" (The Listener, Germany), he is praised for his "masterful piano art" and his "profound musicality" (La Nación, Argentina, 5-stars Review). Renowned for his exceptionally wide repertoire, he has played in concert epic piano cycles of the keyboard literature such as J.S. Bach's 1st and 2nd complete book of The Well-Tempered Clavier (BWV 846-869 & BWV 870-893), W.A. Mozart's complete 18 piano sonatas cycle and L.v. Beethoven's Diabelli Variations. He has appeared as a concerto soloist with numerous orchestras including Buenos Aires' Philharmonic Orchestra, Argentina's National Symphonic Orchestra, Sinfónica Provincial de Bahía Blanca and Sinfónica Municipal de Mar del Plata, showing his mastery of the great romantic tradition by playing key masterpieces of the repertoire such as Johannes Brahms' monumental Piano Concerto No. 2, Franz Liszts Piano Concerto No. 1 and Frédéric Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2, among others.
Internationally, Hugo Schuler performs at important concert halls in Germany, Holland, Belgium, Poland and Spain. Praised by European critics, Hugo was selected in Germany for the world premiere of works by Heinrich Kaminski and Reinhard Schwarz-Schilling (renowned German composers of the 20th century) and its record registration on a double CD for the German label Aldilà Records (Naxos) which also includes J.S. Bach's famous Goldberg Variations (BWV 988).
