Irene Schmitt (Soprano)

Born: Trier, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

The German soprano, Irene Schmitt, studied at Auguste-Viktoria-Gymnasium in Trier (1989-1998). She studied singing in the class of Monika Meier-Schmid at the Institut für Musik der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg, and obtained there her Artistic Diploma in Singing (2001-2008).

Irene Schmitt was a member of the vocal sextet Die VokaLiesen and has been a member of concerts and CD recordings of the Dresdner Kammerchor (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann) since 2005. In the field of early music she collaborates with the Wittenberger Hofkapelle and has already been heard as a soloist in concerts of the Philharmonischen Kammerorchesters Wernigerode. She is also a member of Vokalensemble Con Anima. She worked as Music Trader, Sheet Music and Recordings Department in Opus 61 Dresden (2009-2015). She currently lives in Dresden, Germany and is full time mom.
