The Austrian bass, Oliver Sailer, began his vocal training at the age of 6 with the renowned Wiltener Sängerknaben. Very soon he was engaged as a soprano soloist for masses and concerts. Through the participation of the Boys’ Choir in various opera performances, he gained his first stage experience at an early age. Already during his studies he sang many concerts, such as J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) and Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244); George Frideric Handel's The Messiah, W.A. Mozart's Requiem; and Haydn's The Seasons by. Concert tours have taken him to Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Romania as well as China. In 2018, he was 1st Prize winner at the competition “Musica Juventutis” and received an invitation for a recital at the Wiener Konzerthaus. Due to his performance at this concert in March 2020, “Musica Juventutis” awarded him a special prize, whereupon he was invited to perform a song recital at the Blaibach Concert Hall. Various master-classes with Peter Schreier, Karlheinz Hanser, Vesselina Kasarova, Olaf Bär as well as Michelle Breedt gave him important artistic impulse. He also holds a scholarship of the Academia Vocalis, the Eva Lind Music Academy Tyrol as well as the Richard Wagner Association.
In 2021, Oliver Sailer completed his vocal studies at the Tyrolean State Conservatory with Proessor Mag. Johannes Stecher with distinction. In addition, he completed studies to be a teacher in mathematics and in music education, with singing as his main artistic subject under O.Univ.Professor. Peter Ullrich. Currently he is also studying voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (cooperative studies with the Tyrolean State Conservatory).
Starting with the 2021-2022 season, Oliver Sailer will be an ensemble member at the Tiroler Landestheater in Innsbruck and sang roles such as Sarastro, 1st Priest and 2nd Armoured in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, the Mesner in Puccini’s Tosca, or 1st and 2nd Soldiers, 1st Nazarene and 5th Jew in Salome in his first season there. Prior to that, he will make his debut at the Tyrolean Festival Erl in the summer of 2021 as the 3rd Nobleman of Brabant in Wagner’s Lohengrin. In spring 2022, the recording of J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) with the Wiltener Sängerknaben was released, featuring Oliver Sailer as Jesus. |
