Maria Pizzuto (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Heilbronn, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

The German mezzo-soprano, Maria Pizzuto, studied at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart, where she completed her diploma in singing and vocal pedagogy with top marks in 2011. This was followed by a Master of Music degree in opera with Professor Turid Karlsen. She also repeatedly gained new impulses in master-classes with singers like Shirley Close and Claudia Eder as well as conductors like Peter Berne. During her studies she took part in numerous concerts with a focus on early music as well as in scenic projects in the field of new vocal music under the direction of Professor Angelika Luz. In productions of the opera school she could be seen in various roles at the Wilhelma-Theater Stuttgart, among others with the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, including Zerlina in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Ms. M. in Paul Hindemith's Neues vom Tage and Meg Page in Verdi's Falstaff.

In her busy concert activity, Maria Pizzuto developed a wide-ranging repertoire, ranging from early Baroque literature to J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) and Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248), W.A. Mozart's Requiem to Dvořák's Biblical Songs. Her repertoire also includes all songs, with her particular love for the French art song.

An important part of her artistic activity is the participation in different ensembles such as the Solistenensemble Stimmkunst of the Stiftskirche Stuttgart under the direction of Kay Johannsen. She sang in concert series such as the Michelbacher Schlossforum, the Schubertiade in Ettlinger Schloss and the cultural series “Töne der Klassik” in Bad Boll.

Maria Pizzuto is a singing teacher at the Ev. Schulzentrum in Michelbach an der Bilz. She also gives voice training in various choirs, including at the Kantorei St. Michael in Schwäbisch Hall.
