Claudia Maria Laule (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Leipzig, Saxony, Germany

The German mezzo-soprano, composer, choral conductor, and music teacher, Claudia Maria Laule, studied singing with Professor Helga Forner in at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig, graduating in 2002.

Already during her studies, Claudia Maria Laule participated in oratorio concerts and performances of the new music (eg in the opera Leonce und Lena by Christian F.P. Kram after texts by Georg Büchner). She regularly performs in concerts and recitals; correpetitors are Manami Ishitani-Stiehl, Christiane Neumann, Christiane Köbler and Christiane Bräutigam. She is a member of GewandhausKammerchor (Director: Morten-Schuldt-Jensen), performed with them at Rheingau -und Schleswig-Holstein-Musikfestival, MDR-Kultursommer. From 2004 to 2008 she was also a singer in the MDR Rundfunkchor Leipzig, singing under Kurt Masur, Howard Arman, Michael Gielen and Hartmut Haenchen (project-wise). Since 2014, she is a member of Ensemble Vocale Modern (radio recordings, tours). She is also a member of Collegium Vocale Leipzig (Director: Michael Schönheit).

Bach (alto), Oratorio de Noël by Camille Saint-Saëns (alto & mezzo soprano), Messiah by George Frideric Handel (alto), Eliah Op. 70 by Felix Mendelssohn (alto), Paulus Op. 36 by F. Mendelssohn (alto); Passions: Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) by J.S. Bach (alto), Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) by J.S. Bach (alto); Masses: B Minor Mass (BWV 232) by J.S. Bach (alto & mezzo soprano), C Minor Mass by W.A. Mozart (mezzo soprano), Requiem by W.A. Mozart (alto); Cantatas: various cantatas by J.S. Bach, Dietrich Buxtehude, etc. Lieder: by Robert Schumann and Clara Schumann, Franz Schubert, Fanny Hensel, Johannes Brahms, Georges Bizet, Gustav Mahler, Volker Bräutigam, Günther Neubert, Sascha Heße, and many more; Miscellaneous: Gloria in excelsis Deo by Antonio Vivaldi (alto solo), Tango Mass by M. Palmeri (mezzo-soprano solo), Magnificat (BWV 243) by J.S. Bach (mezzo-soprano solo), Songs and chansons from musicals, such as by Georg Gershwin.

Claudia Maria Laule currently lives in Leipzig, Saxony, Germany, where she teaches at Musik-und Kunstschule Clara Schumann Leipzig (since September 2019).
