The German baritone and singing teacher, Markus Köhler, was a member of Thomanerchor Leipzig and studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik Dresden and the Universität der Künste Berlin. He attended courses with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Aribert Reimann, and has been a prize-winner in various competitions.
As well as stage engagements, he has made his name especially as a concert singer and lieder interpreter. Performances in Germany and abroad in many renowned concert halls, with well-known conductors, choruses and orchestras, and at festivals including the Berliner Festwochen, Kunstfest Weimar, Gustav-Mahler-Musikwoche in Toblach, and Dresdner Musikfestspiele, on radio and television for RIAS, SFB, NDR, WDR, MDR and Deutschlandradio, and CD recordings with classical and contemporary compositions reflect his wide-ranging artistic activities.
