Peter Knudsvig (Trumpet, Arranger)

Born: Williston, North Dakota, USA

The American trumpeter and arranger, Peter Knudsvig, received his Bachelor of Music from Concordia College (1970) and his Master and Doctorate of Music from The Catholic University of America (1975), concurrently playing first trumpet in The US Army Band, Washington, DC.

Peter Knudsvig has performance experience on three continents including the National Ballet Orchestra, USA, the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra, South Africa, and a 25-year tenure as Co-Principal Trumpet of the Hofer Symphoniker in Bavaria, Germany (until 2007). As well as playing First Trumpet in Rekkenze Brass, one of Europe's leading brass ensembles, Knudsvig is also its chief arranger: many of his arrangements are available through Editions BIM and De Haske Publications.

Peter Knudsvig was a founding member of the European Trumpet Guild where he served as first Interim President. Before moving overseas, he served as Professor of Music at the College of Charleston, South Carolina, and later at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio. He has also served as a brass instructor for the Bayreuth Youth Festival and the Haus Marteau International Music Institute. He joined the Concordia College faculty in 2007 as Associate Professor of Music and Artist-Teacher of Trumpet.
