Guido Jentjens (Bass)

Born: Germany

The German bass, Guido Jentjens, had studied church and school music before he started his singing studies at the Musikhochschule in Cologne. During this time he gained first stage experience at the Opera Studio of the Deutschen Oper am Rhein.

This was followed by engagements at the Badische Staatstheater Karlsruhe and the Hessische Staatstheater Wiesbaden, where he had big success in numerous roles, particularly in Mozart and George Frideric Handel operas. Other performances have taken him to leading opera houses in Brussels, Berlin and Baden-Baden. He appeared recently at the Bayreuth Festival as Landgrave (Tannhäuser).

Since the 2005-2006 season, Guido Jentjens is ca permanent ensemble member at the Staatstheater Nürnberg. This has included additional roles to his repertoire, such as Daland in Der fliegende Holländer, Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte and Leporello in Don Giovanni. In the current season, he can be heard as Baron Ochs von Lerchenau in Der Rosenkavalier and as Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor among others.
