The Dutch tenor, Erik Janse, obtained his Master of Science degree in Physics from Eindhoven University of Technology (1985-1991). He is active as Consultant on Fire Safety in new and existing buildings since 1992. He is also a freelance classical singer, solo tenor.
Erik Janses as soloist in oratorio, art songs and opera. He has performed more than 70 J.S. Bach's cantatas. He particularly enjoys the role as Evangelist in the two J.S. Bach's Passions: Johannes-Passion BWV 245 & Matthäus-Passion BWV 244 , as well as singing the aria's in W.A. Mozart’s Requiem and Masses, George Frideric Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation and The Seasons. Romantic oratorios he has performed include Petite Messe Solennelle (Rossini), Requiem (Verdi), Messa di Gloria (Puccini), Misa Criolla (Ramirez), Elias (Felix Mendelssohn), Messe Solennelle (Charles Gounod), Nicolas Cantata (Benjamin Britten) and Oratorio de Noël (Camille Saint-Saëns). In 2016 he sang the main role in the opera Il Pirata by Bellini.
Erik Janse has performed the song cycles Winterreise and Schöne Müllerin, Dichterliebe and in chamber and orchestral settings he performed several well known opera arias by W.A. Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Georges Bizet and Gounod. Contemporary works he has performed by Sylvia Meassen and Alfons Van der Mullen. From the composer Gijs Meeusen he has performed several compositions, one cycle on poems of the Dutch poet Vasalis, which is free available on Youtube.
Erik Janse sings regularly in the choir of The National Opera in Amsterdam and sang two midday concerts there, with songs of Franz Liszt (2015) and F. Mendelssohn (2017). He is coached by opera singer Marcel Reijans. He currently lives in Groenekan, the Netherlands. |
