Ulla Groenewold (Contralto)

Born: Leer, East Friesland, Germany

The German contralto, Ulla Groenewold, studied voice at the Berlin Academy of Music with Elisabeth Grümmer. While still a student she gained her initial experience concert and recordings with the Berlin Ensemble of Early Music.

Ulla Groenewold has been a resident of Hamburg since 1978 and has gained reputation as a concert singer; particularly in the field of early music, she has performed numerously on radio, television, and records and appeared at such music festivals as Bachwoche Ansbach, the Flanders Festival and the Göttingen Händel Festival.
