Bibiana Goldenthal (Soprano)

Born: Romania

The soprano, Bibiana Goldenthal, was born in Romania and received her musical education at the Academy of Music in Bucharest.

She came to Israel in 1963 and since then had many appearances with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Haifa Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Ensemble, and the Israel Festival Opera.

Bibiana Goldenthal continued her music studies in Vienna through a scholarship from the Austria-Israel Cultural Foundation for Young Artists. On her return to Israel in 1968, she participated in Menotti’s The Consul as the foreign woman at the Israel Festival. A year later, she was invited by the composer to participate in the performance of that opera at the Madrid Opera Festival. She appeared at the Abu-Gosh Music Festival in 1972. In the autumn of 1972, she took part in the international festival of Florence and Spoleto. In 1977 she appeared in the Charleston Festival, USA (on that occasion, she also appeared in a television version of The Consul), and in 1985 she sang in the Festival of Edinburgh. She has also appeared in recitals and broadcasts in her country and abroad.

Bibiana Goldenthal appeared in many opera houses in Italy, USA and Holland, under the batons of such conductors as Thomas Schippers, Antal Doráti, Alberto Zedda, Zubin Mehta, Gary Bertini and Mendi Rodan.

Since 1982 Bibiana Goldenthal is voice teacher at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.
