Peter Gellhorn (Conductor)

Born: England

The English conductor, Peter Gellhorn, conducted in his long and distinguished career all the leading opera companies, notably the Royal Opera, Covent Garden and Glyndebourne Festival Opera. He was also, for eleven years, Director of the BBC Chorus. He is well known as pianist, composer, lecturer and adjudicator in Britain and overseas. Peter Gellhorn was Fellow and former Professor at the Guildhall School of Music. He was the conductor of the Barnes Choir from 1973 until 2000 when Andrew Charity took over.
