Founded: 1966 - Frankfurt, Germany
The Figuralchor Frankfurt works in close co-operation with the Hessischen Rundfunk, at which the choir was created 1966. The choir includes about 70 singers. Since its establishment in 1966, the choir has been led by Professor Alois Ickstadt. The choir pursues its artistic goals on the basis of a long-term co-operation of its members, who receive their vocal training by individual process with Professor Gerhard Meier. The choir's repertoire covers special works of the a-capella-music from the Renaissance to the modern time, as well as works from the oratorio literature.
The Figuralchor Frankfurt has received attention and far away acknowledgement by regular appearances in Frankfurt and concert tours in its homeland and abroad. The choir co-operates with many well-known artists and orchestras, like the Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchester, the Königlich Flämische Philharmonie Antwerpen, the
Polnische Kammerphilharmonie, the Radio-Sinfonie-Orchester Frankfurt and Saarbrücken. The choir has co-operated with the conductors Y. Ahronovitch, V. Ashkenazy, G. Albrecht, Michael Gielen, D. Kitajenko, Marcello Viotti, H. Wolff, H. Zender, John Nelson, P. Carignani and others.
The Figuralchor Frankfurt is member of Arbeitsgemeinschaft Frankfurter Chöre (the working group of Frankfurt choirs). The choir can be heard in numerous productions for the Hessischen Rundfunk and on recordings.
