Favorit- und Capellchor Leipzig (Choir)

Founded: 1979 – Germany

In 1979, Armin Schneiderheinze created Favorit- und Capellchor Leipzig (= FCCL) as special vocal ensemble for early music on the basis of strict source orientation. Their size changes according to the needs of the programme, where the kernel of the group consists of only nine soloist singers. They are characterised by creative application into the Bach-Händel time by valid making music principle of the sound-colouring, registering and finally concert performances.

FCCL’s repertoire logically includes J.S. Bach, but also vocal works from the musical surrounding field of the composer, as well as excursions to the Romantic and the contemporary modern time. Their high artistic achievements include the interpretation of Musikalischen Exequien of by Schütz, J.S. Bach’s Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248), as well as works of Händel.
