Pablo Escande (Conductor, Piano)

Born: 1971 - Buenos Aires, Argentina

The Argentine composer/arranger and conductor/pianist, Pablo Escande, obtained his diploma at the Conservatory of Music in Buenos Aires in 1990. In 1991 he traveled to the Netherlands to study Baroque Music's performance practice and Composition at the Conservatorium of Amsterdam (formerly Sweelinck Academy of Music). He studied harpsichord, fortepiano, and basso continuo with Jacques Ogg, orchestration with R. Voortmann and composition with R. Reyna.

Then in the Netherlands Pablo Escande worked as performer, arranger and composer, writing for many ensembles and projects. In 2012 he moved to live in Kyoto, Japan, where he works as performer on Harpsichord and Piano in many Japanese orchestras, and as composer/arranger and orchestrator. He has received commissions from all over the world and has been performed by international artists throughout the world. He has also arranged arrangements for notable groups such as the cello octet Conjunto Ibérico, Rotterdam Chamber Orchestra, Holland Wind Players, Talosingers, and Kyoto Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra. In 2008, he won the Honorary Prize at the American Alienor Composition Competition. Symbol artist of the 2008 Tamba no Mori International Music Festival. In 2016, he won the Most Original Composer Award at the Novara Film Music Composition Competition in Italy. He won TRINAC 2017 and was selected as the representative Argentine composer (chamber music category). Some of his Compositions are published in the Netherlands and in Japan and there are 8 CD's containing his music.

While living in the Netherlands, Pablo Escande was conductor and organist at the Church of Our Lady in Hilversum, and participated as accompanist in numerous operas and projects. He also served as accompanist for Baroque vocal master Max van Egmond for many years. He currently resides in Japan and is expanding his musical activities. He is a music advisor for the Japan Telemann Association and a part-time lecturer at Kyoto Women's University. In August 2019, he founded in Kyoto the Vocal Ensemble & Baroque Orchestra Kansai Baroque.
