The American soprano and choral conductor, Tanya Elias, She studied conducting under the direction of Dr. Richard Sparks while obtaining her Bachelor of Music at Pacific Lutheran University. She received her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music.
Tanya Elias has served as choral director in the Pacific Northwest since 1987. Currently, she is Director of Contemporary Worship and Choral Director at Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Salem, Oregon Her primary duties at Christ the Good Shepherd are to create and produce the contemporary worship service, including aspects of music, drama and other activities within the service. She is also Director of Outreach Worship and Choir. She developes the worship services for the Contemporary services, working with the pastors, and leads the praise band Sound Offerings. She also directs the church choir, which performs regularly in services September through May as well as presents two major pieces around Christmas and Easter.
Tanya Elias has also written and directed several children's musicals. She has taught private vocal instruction, most recently on staff at Chemeketa Community College.
