The DR VokalEnsemblet (= DRVE; Danish National Vocal Ensemble) is an elite choir with a pure, transparent Nordic sound - and at the same time each of the 18 singers is a professional soloist with a strong personal mode of expression.
In the company of the DRVE one can experience the whole spectrum of choral music - from 500-year-old Renaissance music through Romantic classics to brand new works by young composing talents. Several Danish and European composers have written works specifically for the DRVE, which is today internationally acclaimed.
Each season the DRVE appears in a number of a cappella concerts as well as with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. The choir also appears with ensembles like Concerto Copenhagen or orchestras from Nordic or other European countries.
The DRVE has recorded a long succession of CD's. In 2012, they won the prestigious German Echo Music Prize for the CD The Nightingale, recorded with recorder virtuoso Michala Petri. Other new CD's include Per Nørgård’s large choral work Libra and a recording of Francis Francis Poulenc’s choral music.
In the 20162017 season the DRVEe celebrates its tenth anniversary, and the programme for the season is the best possible illustration of the choir’s great versatility - from madrigals to modern classics. The current Chif Conductor of the DRVE is Marcus Creed.e |
