Fabio Ciofini (Organ, Conductor)

Born: Terni, Italy

The Italian organist and conductor, Fabio Ciofini, studied organ, piano and fortepiano at the Conservatory of Perugia with W. Van de Pol, M.F. Spaventi and C. Veneri, he also studied harpsichord at the School of Music in Fiesole with Alfonso Fedi. He has continued his organ studies at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam with Jacques van Oortmerssen obtaining, in 1999, the “Post-Graduate” in early music.

In 1995, Fabio Ciofini was appointed “Organist titulaire” in Collescipoli on the historical Baroque organ W. Hermans (1678). He appears regularly in Italy, Europe, USA, Canada, Mongolia and Japan as a recitalist and he is often guest in important Festivals (Lufthansa Festival, Oude Muziek - Utrecht, Vantaa Baroque Festival etc). He gives several Lectures and Masterclass (Javea, Spain - International Baroque Music Festival, California State University of Chico, Arizona State University of Phoenix and Washington State University of Seattle - organ master-classes, Oundle International Festival, England - organ master-classes, Conservatories of Pamplona, Banska Bystrika etc).

Fabio Ciofini has recorded and performed live on radio for the most important European national radio (BBC, ZDF, YLE, RAI etc). His interpretations of early music and Baroque collect wide consents. He records for the "Bottega Discantica" - Milan, for Loft Recordings - Seattle, Brilliant classics (Amsterdam, Netherlands) and Glossa (Madrid). His latest work Opus 4 of Arcangelo Corelli recorded with the Ensemble Aurora (Glossa) won the "Diapason d'oro" and the "Deutschen Schallplattenkritik".

Fabio Ciofini is also active as a director and conductor. He is Director of Accademia Hermans, with whom he has worked with the greatest soloists: violinist Enrico Gatti, the soprano Roberta Invernizzi, the fortepianist Bart Van Oort (with whom he recorded the concertos KV 466 and 467 of W.A. Mozart for piano and orchestra, judged by critics as "exceptional" - 5 stars, Music magazine) etc.

Fabio Ciofini teaches historical keyboards at the "G. Briccialdi “ Conservatory of Terni (since November 2004). Since 2010 he is Artistic Director of the Foundation Brunello and Federica Cucinelli (Solomeo, Perugia). In 2020 he was appointed Artistic Director of the Festival “Segni Barocchi”.
