Guido Camillucci was a a passionate lover of choral music, a specialist in the polyphonic field for his activities as director, reviewer, transcriber and teacher. He taught composition, vocal polyphony choral music at the Conservatorio “Giuseppe Verdi” di Milano. The Accademia Corale di Lecco, a mixed polyphonic choir based in Lecco, was founded in 1947 by Vincenzo Saputo, who gathered first group of 40 singers as part of the initiatives of the new Circolo Musicale di Lecco. He entrusted the direction of the choir to Guido Camillucci, who left his post at the Conservatorio “Giuseppe Verdi” di Milano, and directed the choir from 1947 to 1982. He was succeeded by Angelo Mazza who directed the choir from 1982 to 1993.
Guido Camillucci's valuable work, among the many significant artistic stages in the major Italian theaters, should be remembered the first complete recording of L'Amfiparnaso by Orazio Vecchi (1950).
