Simon Berg (Bass, Conductor)

Born: February 26, 1973 - Munich, Bavaria, Germany

The German bass and conductor, Simon Berg, grew up in Bavaria's capital Munich. After finishing high school in 1992, he studied from 1993 to 1999 at the Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium singing and piano.

Simon Berg has worked as an organist and choir director in Munich from 1989 to 2000. In the Munich Biennale, he sang at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Carl Orff’s Astutuli. For some projects, he sang the opera roles of Papageno, Don Giovanni and Nick Shadow.

Simon Berg performed as a bass singer with Lieder recitals and oratorio concerts, opera and operetta. In 2001 he was appointed conductor and accompanist of the musical Der Glöckner von Notre Dame in the Theater am Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. In addition to his work as a teacher in piano, accompaniment and singing Simon Berg is a choir member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. In 2002-2005 he gave several guest appearances at the Hansa-Theater and the Theater Karlshorst in Berlin. In 2004 he was a soloist (Pilate) in the CD production of the Matthäus-Passion by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. At the Saalbau Neukölln he appeared in the premiere of Die Klage des Pleberio. In 2006 he became director of RIAS-Forumkonzerten. Since 2007, he is a soloists in the Residenzkonzerte at the Schloss Charlottenburg in Berlin. At the Klassikfestspielen Monschau he conducted several operettas (including Die lustige Witwe and Gräfin Mariza). In 2007 he appeared at the Wintergarten Varieté Berlin on the show Forioso!. In 2009 he sang in the benefit concert for UNDINE at the Berlin Philharmonie. Simon Berg lives in Berlin. Since 2007 he is a member Vocalconsort Berlin.
