The German soprano, Marianne Basner (neé: Stopp), was married with Gustav Basner. They lived in Leipzig, Weinligstrasse 11, probaly all time. Gustav organized or planned tours with any orchestra. Both had the intension to come to Western Germany and had transferred some money and silver cutlery, which was kept safe by their friends. After the wall in 1961, they rejected the idea of exodus from the "GDR". Their daughter, Gerhild, married a policeman (member of Volkspolizei) and moved to Gera. After Gustav's decease, Marianne married Fernand Gröbing. Marianne used also the stage name Maria Stein. Below is also a handwritten recipe from Marianne for Weihnachtsstollen, a typical fine pastry from Saxony.
