Johann Michael Große [Grose], was a German composer and organist. He was born the son of Johann Große (organist in Pötewitz). Before 1741 he resided Leipzig and was a pupil of J.S. Bach in Leipzig. Since 1741, he was organist in Zwenkau and served in this post for over 30 years (substituted 1774).
His son was the German and Danish organist, composer and music teacher Michael Ehregott Grose (1747-1795). He received from an early age lessons in organ playing from his father. In 1782 he was able to take over the job from his father as a so-called organist substitute in Zwenkau at St. Laurentius until 1784.
Johann Michael Große's lessons from J.S. Bach are only attested by a statement by his son Michael Ehregott Große, which was published in 1784 in Carl Friedrich Cramer's Magazin der Musik.
