Tomasz Wabnic (Violin, Viola, Music Director)

Born: 1978 - Wrocław, Poland

The Polish violinist, violist and music director, Tomasz Wabnic, gave his first public performance as a violinist at the age of four with his sister at the piano. His musical education began at the music school in Częstochowa, later he continued his studies under Professor Jadwiga Kaliszewska in the violin class at the Music Academy in Bydgoszcz and in Poznań and in the viola class of Professor Herwig Zelle at the Conservatory for Music in Vienna and graduated with high distinction. In the year 2008 he got his Master of Arts title from the Music and Arts University of Vienna in the class of chamber music.

Apart from being a virtuoso on the violin and viola, he has been a successful manager - creating chamber music groups, initiating and promoting their activity as an artistic director and chairman of the Morphing Music Institute. He is the founder and director of the Vienna Morphing Orchestra, which has been performing regularly since 2006 at multiple prominent festivals across Europe and produced a CD with the worldrenowned soprano Aleksandra Kurzak for Sony Classical International in 2019. He is also the founder of the Huberman String Trio - the production of their first CD with recordings of the Goldberg Variations (BWV 988) by J.S. Bach was supervised by an icon of Baroque music interpretations - the counter-tenor Andreas Scholl.

Tomasz Wabnic is also the Artistic Director of Capella Claromontana - an ensemble specialised in performing and recording previously unpublished old music from the archives of the Claromontana monastery written by composers like Ivancic, Dittersdorf, Gluck and Zebrowski. Their eight CD is coming out in 2019. He is also the founder of the Fidelio Quartet, which was in the finals of the Fidelio Competition in Vienna twice and in the finals of the International Chamber Music Competition in Melbourne 2003.

As a soloist and chamber musician he performed in concert with artists such as Richard Tognietti, Joseph Tawadros, Andreas Scholl, Valeriy Sokolov and Bobby McFerrin, which has taken him to remote parts of Europe, Australia, South America and Japan and to concert halls like the Musikverein in Vienna, Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Suntory Hall and Opera City Hall in Tokyo and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

He has also produced recordings for radio and television for Mezzo, Arte, ORF, ABC Radio Australia, Rai 1, TVP, Ö1, Bayerische Rundfunk, TV Culture Russia, HRT 1, TVP 1, TVP Kultura and many more.
