Margherita Dalla Vecchia (Organ, Harpsichord)

Born: March 16, 1962 - Vicenza, Italy

The Italian organist and harpsichordist, Margherita Dalla Vecchia, studied organ, organ composition and harpsichord in Parma (S. Innocenti) and Mantova (Sergio Vartolo) Conservatory. She later and she perfectioned her studies at the most important European Academies: Accademia di Pistoia (Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini), Academy of Haarlem (Jean-Claude Zehnder, Bernard Lagacé, Harald Vogel), Meisterkurse of Vaduz (Michael Radulescu), University of Santiago de Compostela (Opera omnia for organ, J.S. Bach), Cremona.

Since 1993 Margherita Dalla Vecchia is very active in important musical events and concerts as a solist at organ and harpsichord as well as in several vocal instrumental groups taking part at major Festivals in Italy, France, England, Spain, Portugal, Austria and Germany. She has performed at Olimpic Theatre taking part at International Festival “Settimane Musicali” in Vicenza with several records and radio recordings for Rai Tre and returned also in several italian cities.

Margherita Dalla Vecchia is teacher At the Conservatory “A. Buzzolla” in Adria where she teaches organ, gregorian chant and ancient barocco repertory also about religious music. She is regular holder of historical organ “De Lorenzi” in Oratorio and church of S. Filippo Neri and conductor of vocal and instrumental Ensemble Il Teatro Armonico.

In the year 2000 Margherita Dalla Vecchia started the Progetto Bach Vicenza, directed for 12 years by M° Michael Radulescu playing Cantatas, Motets, and Mass in B minor BWV 232, and then followed by Margherita herself. Since 2015 she amplified the project joining the European Day for early music, during which every March 21st in each public building in Vicenza (from cathedral to small churches, from libraries to museum and so on) is performed at least a piece from J.S. Bach works. Today the Progetto Bach Vicenza brings together 550 musicians and reached its 20th edition.

Margherita Dalla Vecchia is member of commission for Liturgia e Musica and for Arte Organaria of Vicenza. She promote concerts, seminaries and artistic projects to patronize and enhance historical instruments and inheritance of vocal and instrumental religious music. She regularly collaborate with many cultural and musical international autorities; very significant is her collaboration with Cardinale Gianfranco Ravasi for “Festival Biblico” in Vicenza.

From the J.S. Bach’s vocal works performed with the direction of Margherita Dalla Vecchia, the most notable are:

Matthäus Passion BWV 244 (First ever executed with Italian musicians and copies of original Baroque instruments)
