Toronto Classical Singers (= TCS) choir is an impressive choir of 100 talented singers that began in 1992. They uphold the highest standards in performing works from the past 300 years. Now in their 35th season, they continue to delight Toronto audiences with the best of this wonderful musical heritage - and they always welcome new members.
Toronto Classical Singers are highly regarded for their commitment to professionalism, and for a repertoire spanning the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic repertoire. TCS produces three concerts each year, usually at at Christ Church Deer Park in Toronto. Under the direction of Jurgen Petrenko, artistic founder, the choir performs with professional soloists accompanied by The Talisker Players Orchestra. John Holland has been tasked with leading the ensemble into the next stage of our 35-year history. He took over from Jurgen Petrenko, who retired in April 2025 after a long and distinguished career as the choir’s founding Artistic Director.Under the baton of John Holland, the new Artistic Director (since June 2025), the choir continues their long-standing partnership with the Toronto Classical Players, an accomplished orchestra that accompanies the choir in its concerts.
For their 2025-2026 season they present two concerts. On December 7, 2025 they perform Magnificats by J.S. Bach, C.P.E. Bach, and J.D. Zelenka. For their April 19, 2026 concert, we present W.A. Mozart's Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, and Dvorák’s Mass in D and Psalm 149.
Their Western choral tradition has brought great beauty into this world for centuries. That has never been more important, and the Toronto Classical Singers are dedicated to ensuring that this vital, inspiring tradition endures and thrives. |
