The American choral singer, tenor and baritone soloist, organist, trumpeter, conductor, and music educator, James Layton, studied at Youth Performing Arts School (Class of 2019). He obtained his Bachelor of Music Education degree from University of Louisville (Class of 2023); and his Master of Music Performance degree in Choral Conducting from University of Louisville (Class of 2025).
James Layton has been Assistant Conductor & Administrator at Jefferson & Oldham County Youth Community Service Band (August 2019-May 2023); Choral Scholar/Tenor section leader at St. Luke's Episcopal Church (September 2019-January 2023); Summer Intern at D C Schroth Organ Builders, LLC (May-August 2021); Choral Scholar/Baritone section leader at St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church (January 2023-July 2025); Graduate Teaching Assistant at University of Louisville School of Music (July 2023-May 2025); Choral Scholar at Louisville Master Chorale (August 2023-March 2024); Organist-choirmaster at Episcopal Church of The Advent (since November 2025); Substitute Teacher at Jefferson County Public Schools (since August 2025); Director of Artistic Operations at The Louisville Chamber Choir (since August 2024). |
