Kantorei Kirchditmold (Choir)

Founded: 1911 - Kassel, Hesse, Germany

The Kirchditmold Kantorei was founded in 1911 and currently has around 70 members. In addition to regularly taking part in church services, playing large choral symphonic works is also part of the work in the congregation.

Since 1992, when Michael Gerisch took office, the choir has been able to attract important musicians and orchestras for its performances. Soloists such as the Dresden baritones Olaf Bär and Egbert Junghanns or the soprano Ute Selbig from the Staatsoper Dresden were among the guests, as were the Neues Bachisches Collegium Musicum Leipzig (J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244), Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248); the Armenian chamber orchestra "Serenade " (Carl Loewe's Das Sühneopfer des Neuen Bundes); and members of the Staatsorchesters Kassel (Johannes Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem, W.A. Mozart's Requiem, John Rutter's Gloria and Requiem, Felix Mendelssohn's Elias and Paulus and Antonin Dvorak's Requiem).

The Kantorei Kirchditmold regularly undertakes choir trips abroad. A special award was the invitation to the music festival "Leiturgia" in Jerusalem in 1997-1998, as well as a diploma for excellent concerts at the international music festival "musica sacra praga" in Prague in 2003.
