The Swiss soprano and music teacher, Gabriela Glaus, obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Classical Singing (2014-2017, with Liliane Zürcher), her Master of Arts degree in Music Education, Major SII (2017-2020, with Liliane Zürcher & Simone Durrer-Stock), her Master of Arts in Music Performance Classical Singing (2020), her Diploma of Advanced Studies in Vocal Pedagogy (2020, with Liliane Zürcher), and her Master of Arts in Music Classical Singing (September 2020-June 2022, with Simone Durrer-Stock), all from the Hochschule Luzern Musik Hochschule under. Master-classes with Malcolm Walker, Rosalba Trevisan, Brigitte Geller, Angelika Luz, Sarah Maria Sun, and Emma Kirkby complemented her studies. In May 2019, Gabriela Glaus won the Edwin Fischer Anerkennungspreis 2019 and, in March 2022, 1st prize at the Lions Musikwettbewerbs.
Gabriela Glaus has enriched her education with numerous concert performances and opera productions. She has already performed Madame Herz in W.A. Mozart's Der Schauspieldirektor, the Baronessa in J. Haydn's La vera Costanza, Ernestine in J. Offenbach's Monsieur Choufleuri, and the Queen of the Night in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte on stage;, and has performed various cantatas as well as Matthäus-Passion and Johannes-Passion by Georg Philipp Telemann and J.S. Bach, C. Monteverdi's Marienvesper, W.A. Mozart's Requiem, Felix Mendelssohn's Paulus, Francis Poulenc's Figure humaine, and D. Lesur's Le Cantique des cantiques as a soloist and as an ensemble member. She has worked with various conductors, including Alois Koch, Ulrike Grosch, Pascal Mayer, Franz Schaffner, Jos van Veldhoven, and Hans-Christoph Rademann. In the summer of 2023, she performed as a soloist and in the ensemble at the Klosterspielen Wettingen, and in the spring of 2024, she performed as Pauline at the Theater Arth in Offenbach's production of Parisian Life. Since 2024, she is a member of Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (Director: Rudolf Lutz).
Her first CD, "Hommage à Gersau," which she developed together with organist Alois Koch, was released in December 2024. In March 2025, she was invited to Essen (Germany) for two concerts and will lead a seminar on children's choir conducting.
Gabriela Glaus enjoys directing the Chor Cantando Gersau (since October 2016). She also teaches at the Regionalen Musikschule Wohlen (August 2022-July 2024), Musikschule Region Malters in Schwarzenberg (since August 2022), and Musikschule Gersau as a voice coach and children's choir director (since August 2020). Since August 2024 she has been co-director of the Äntlibuecher Musikschule in Escholzmatt-Marbach. She currently lives in Kriens, Switzerland. |
