The American soprano, Soo Young Kim Chrisfield, attended The George Washington University as a Presidential Arts Scholar, obtaining there her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs (1993-1997); the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University (Undergradaute Studies of Vocal Performance: 1998 - 2001); and received her Master of Music from the University of Maryland Opera Studio in Opera Performance (2001-2003). She received her Teacher's Certificate in Orff Schulwerk Pedagogy, Music Teacher Education from George Mason University (June-July 2019).
Soo Young Chrisfield has been a Freelance Classical Singer since 1993, specializing in Baroque and early music. She has been featured as the soprano soloist at The Grace Church Bach Festival since 2004. She has been praised for singing with a “lithe bright sweetness” and “pure and sounding high notes” according to the Washington Post. She has been Section Leader at Grace Episcopal Church (2004-2007); Soloist at First Church of Christ Scientist (August 2007-August 2012).
Soo Young Chrisfield has been Music Teacher at Shine Like Stars Preschool Stevensville, Maryland (November 2013-May 2015); Music Teacher at Chesapeake Montessori School in Annapolis, Maryland (August 2014-June 2016); Lower School Music Teacher at Friends Community School in College Park, Maryland (August 2016-July 2022); Lower School Music Teacher at Barrie School in Silver Spring, Maryland (since July 2022). In addition, she teaches music at her own Keys and Cords Music Studio (since July 2009). She currently lives in Riverdale, Maryland. |
