The young Vokalensemble Cellavocis was founded on the initiative of former singers of the Appenzeller Jugendchor. United by their many wonderful musical experiences and the desire to continue singing together after their time in the youth choir, they founded an ensemble together with Anna Kölbener and Lea Stadelmann, dedicated to vocal music in a smaller formation.
The small size of the ensemble allows for attentive listening, a friendly atmosphere, and very precise rehearsals. In addition to folk songs, the young vocal ensemble also aims to explore more musically demanding works to further develop their vocal technique and present a varied and engaging program.
The core of the Vokalensemble Cellavocis' musical work lies in Renaissance and Baroque music, which is interwoven with contemporary Swiss choral literature in their programs. A connection to the local area plays a central role, particularly through their engagement with the Romansh language and sounds of the Appenzell region. While their regional roots in Appenzell and the Val Lumnezia form a foundation for the ensemble, they simultaneously consider themselves open to new venues, formats, and musical ideas.
The summer camp week offers ample opportunity for focused rehearsals, musical exploration, and shared experiences, culminating in two concerts – one in Val Lumnezia and one in Appenzell. The singers are involved in all aspects, from contributing musical ideas to organizational tasks and cooking together during the camp week. This sense of community shapes the singing and lends the concerts a unique and special quality. |
