Elena Camoletto (Choral Conductor)

Born: Torino, Italy

The Italian choral conductor, composer and music teacher, Elena Camoletto, completed her musical studies at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica "Giuseppe Verdi" di Torino, graduating in Piano, Choral Music and Choir Direction, Composition (1981-1990). She specialized in Choir Conducting with teachers Gary Graden, Peter Erdei and Kurt Suttner.

Since 2007 Elena Camoletto has been teaching at the choral training courses for singers at the Accademia Musicale Ruggero Maghini and as assistant teacher at the Coro Maghini; in this capacity she collaborated in the preparation of the choir for important productions of the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI (Haydn, Benjamin Britten, Gustav Holst; conductors Jeffrey Tate, Juanjo Mena, Rafael Fruebeck de Burgos) and of the Academia Montis Regalis (J.S. Bach, George Frideric Handel, Georg Philipp Telemann; conductors Alessandro De Marchi, Claudio Chiavazza). She has conducted various choral ensembles: Vocalis Concentus di Torino, Coro Lorenzo Perosi di Biella, Musicanova Ensemble, Corale Polifonica di Sommariva Bosco, Ensemble Vocale NovAntiqua.

Elena Camoletto's compositions have been performed in concerts and concert seasons in Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Singapore, USA. She has been awarded in several national and international choral composition competitions; she has have received numerous commissions from FE.N.I.A.R.CO (Federazione Nazionale Associazioni Corali Regionali), from Italian and foreign choirs and performances in various European stages on contemporary choral music (Fano, Alpe Adria Cantat, Europa Cantat, Sondbridge).

Already a teacher at the Conservatories of Palermo, Alessandria and Florence, Elena Camoletto is currently full Professor of Choral Music and Choral Conducting at the Conservatorio di Cuneo where she is also director of the Coro di Voci Bianche. She is often invited to be part of the jury of national choral composition and performance competitions organized by various Italian Choral Associations.
