Kammerchor CONSONO (Chamber Choir)

Founded: 2006 - Cologne, Germany

CONSONO Chamber Choir at Antoniterkirche is a young mixed vocal ensemble from Cologne and consists of about 28 singers. It was founded in 2006 by Harald Jers alongside CONSONO Chamber Choir as a weekly rehearsal choir and is affiliated with the AntoniterCityKirche in Cologne. The main focus of the ensemble is the performance of mostly unknown choral repertoire to a high musical level from the Renaissance, Baroque, Classic and Romantic to modern experimental choral works.

The conductor Harald Jers, with a strong background in voice training, musicology and choir acoustics, brings these skills to the fore in rehearsals and performances, influencing aspects of vocal production and choir formation. The choir has organised and performed various themed a cappella concerts, improvised with saxophone at the Open Evening of Churches in Aachen, made a special appearance at the Protestant Church Congress and produced film music for the German television broadcasters ARD and ZDF. A particular highlight was an historical performance of J.S. Bach’s St. John Passion (BWV 245) accompanied by an artistic light installation.
