About the Artist: (in her own words):
I am Kay Lipton, a Brisbane artist, married to a University lecturer. We have reared five children and we both led very extraordinary lives in our own career.spheres.
From my major exhibition in Toulouse, France, this was written about me in the Art Catalogue:

Kay Lipton has captured the very essence of AUSTRALIA in her diverse works portraying her unique experiences derived from this country. She trained at the Central School of Art and St.Martin’s School of Art in London. She has exhibited widely around the world, travelling extensively in Europe, U.S.A , Canada, and East Africa One of her first appointments as a resident artist was with the British High Commission in Uganda, East Africa. She painted murals for the Entebbe Airport and won a Caltex Art Prize during her eight years residency, there with her husband and family. Her husband was a senior lecturer in Makerere Medical School, Uganda. When in Africa, she discovered the art of wax-resist batik on cotton, being created there by the African women, using vegetable dyes. She took up this art-form and took it to a new dimension, using fast dyes on pure silk.
At present, as a Naturalized Australian, I love to show my impressions of this fantastic and diverse country of sun, sea and changing landscape, with all the skills that I can muster. As soon as I discovered a world-wide source to exhibit my work on the Internet, I learnt quickly how to use the art auction sites, such as www.ebay.comOpens in new window and found that I could sell my works direct from `easel to client’ with a modest profit. Therefore, `that certain style’ demanded by commercial galleries seemed no longer relevant. No matter how I convey `that moment of inspiration’, be it a charcoal drawing of a young woman drying herself on the beach, or a vista of the “red centre” of this ancient land in oils, or a whimsical notion of the human condition in one of my SILK-WORKS, I find clients who just `have to have that certain piece’. So, for those aspiring artists, who `have a dream’, take heart. If you stretch that little bit more and keep that goal in mind, you can really achieve it! My studio is in Brisbane, Queensland and I have many new art projects in the pipe-line.
