Jakob Tapp (Hymn-Writer)

Born: ?
Died: 1630 - Schöningen, Braunschweig (Brunswick), Lower Saxony, Germany

Little is known of the hymn-writer Jakob Tapp . He became pastor primarius and superintendent at Schöningen, Brunswick, in 1616, and died there in 1630 (MS. from Superintendent Wichmann, Seboningen, &c). The hymn, "Das alte Jahr vergangen ist" has sometimes been ascribed to him.
