Artistic Director:

No artistic director. A group of six musicians (plus one historian) does the organizing.

Ensembles:

For each cantata about 15-20 musicians are selected from a pool of now ca. 300 (50 - 100 are playing very regular). Every time they try to find a good mix: a number of 'senior' musicians, together with some young, talented players and singers (often from the conservatory of ancient music, Schola Cantorum Basiliensis). A small number of musicians / musicologists write a text for every concert.

History & Mission:

Since Easter 2004 every month two Bach cantatas are performed at the Basel Predigerkirche, selected for each Sunday in the church year.

The project is carried by a group of internationally oriented, with Basel-related musicians. Over six years, not only the pool of participants has grown, beut also a great listener community has arisen, which in turn contributes to the fact that the "Sunday Cantata" has found a secure place in the musical life of the region.
