History & Mission:

Around 1700 a brave young man, barely fifteen years of age, set out to walk across Germany. His mission: achieving mastery in music by studying with the best teachers of his era. Today J.S. Bach is considered the greatest composer of all times. His courage and determination inspired Bachbridges, a cross-European festival celebrating the most beautiful music ever written.
The International Bach Festival was cofounded by musicians from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra from Amsterdam and their friends from the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria. The first edition in 2015 was warmly received by the public and was greeted with excellent critics in various media.
In 2016 the International Bach Festival will be held both in the Netherlands and in Gran Canaria. The main event of the festival will be a dramatized version of the St. John’s Passion. The festival features orchestra concerts, chamber music and a jazz concert.
During the festival young talented musicians are invited to work together with world-class professionals from both participating orchestras and guest soloists. Master classes and special introductions will be held to introduce students and the public to J.S. Bach’s masterpieces.
From 2017 the International Bach Festival will travel to several European countries.
