Annette Vermeulen (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: The Netherlands

The Dutch mezzo-soprano and singing teacher, Annette Vermeulen, started organ studies in 1989 with Arie Keijzer at the Rotterdams Conservatorium. After a few years she decided to switch to singing as a main subject and, after having studied with Sylvia Schlüter, Hieke Meppelink and Maria Acda, graduated in 2000 with her teacher Carolyn Watkinson. She attended master-classes with Susan Ormont, Hartmut Zabel, Philippe Huttenlocher and Hans Peter Blochwitz, among others.

Annette Vermeulen is active as a self-emloyed mezzo-soprano singer since 2000. She can be heard regularly as a soloist in oratorios, song recitals, contemporary productions and small operas. She also contributed to radio recordings on several occasions. She sings in the choirs: Laurens Collegium Rotterdam and Rotterdam Symphony Chorus​ (Director of both: Wiecher Mandemaker and has also appeared in the Nieuw Nederlands Vocaal Ensemble (Director: Béni Cillag), Studium Chorale (Director: Hans Leenders and PA'dam (Director: Maria van Nieukerken). She currently lives in Rotterdam.
