Daniela Skorka (Soprano)

Born: Israel

The Israeli sorano, Daniela Skorka, began her vocal studies at the Karmiel Music Conservatory. She has served in the IDF as an Outstanding Musician, and completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the Jerusalem Music Academy. There she has won the 1st place in the Lieder competition and the Mendelssohn competition. She was a member of “Meitar” Israeli Opera Studio. She is the 3rd Prize recpient at the Pietro Antonio Cesti - International Competition for Baroque Singing in Innsbruck. She has won the 1st prize in the Aviv Competitions in Israel, there she received the Michal Oren Prize for Voice, as well as the Mira Zakai prize for the best performance of an Israeli vocal work in memory of her parents George and Eva Koigen. She is a recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation (2004-2013), the Bercovici scholarship (2017), Ronen Foundation (2014), Ima Foundation (2010), and the IVAI (2008-2013) scholarships.

dANIELA Skorka has performed with many orchestras and ensembles in Israel and abroad, among them Les Arts Florissants, Les Talens Lyriques, Orfeo Barockorchester, Les folies Françoises, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Israel Camerata Orchestra Jerusalem, Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra, Barrocade Ensemble, Israel Chamber Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and Jerusalem Academy Chamber Choir. She has worked with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, William Christie, Christophe Rousset, György Vashegyi, Dan Ettinger, Daniel Oren, Lahav Shani, Steven Mercurio, Avner Biron, Patrick Cohën-Akenine, Frederic Chaslin, Daniel Cohen, David Stern, John Nelson, Ariel Zuckerman, David Greilsammer and Stanley Sperber.

Her concert repertoire includes solo parts in the Requiem and Mass in C Minor (W.A. Mozart), 4 Grands Motets (Mondonville), Gloria (Francis Poulenc / Antonio Vivaldi), Magnificat (Bach / A. Vivaldi), Messiah, Saul, Solomon, Judas Macchbaeus, La Resurrezione and Dixit Dominus (George Frideric Handel), Stabat Mater and Salve Regina (Giovanni Battista Pergolesi), Psalms 42 (Felix Mendelssohn), Bachianas Brasileiras no. 5 (Heitor Villa-Lobos) and other works.

Her operatic roles include Susanna and Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro, Despina in Cosi fan Tutte, Zerlina in Don Giovanni and Aminta in Il re pastore by W.A. Mozart, Angelica in Orlando by G.F. Handel, Monica in The Medium by Menotti, Diane in Actéon (Charpentier), Phénice in Armide by Lully, Belinda in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos (R. Strauss), Rivka / Rachel / Bilha in Mothers (David Sebba), and more.
