The Czech soprano, Andrea Široká, graduated from the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts (JAMU) in Brno.
Currently Andrea Široká is a soloist of the Janáček Opera of the National Theatre Brno where she has portrayed a variety of roles from the opera and operetta repertoire, such as Xenia in Boris Godunov, Frasquita in Georges Bizet's Carmen, Arsena in The Gypsy Baron, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Volpino in Lo speziale, Clorinda in La Cenerentola, Barbarina W.A. Mozart's in Le nozze di Figaro and Esmeralda in The Bartered Bride. In addition to performing with the Janáček Opera, she has also guested with the Brno City Theatre and worked with the opera company Orfeo. In 2022, on the occasion of the French-Czech co-production, she performs the role of Oberto in George Frideric Handel's Alcina with the Collegium 1704 under the conductor Václav Luks at the National theatre in Brno.
The concert repertoire of Andrea Široká focuses on both local and international musical works, as well as pre-romantic sacred music. On the concert stage, she regularly collaborates with the chamber orchestra, Czech Virtuosi, and the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra in Zlin. She was also able to show her musical versatility in the areas of musical theatre and blues during her collaboration with the company, Gustava Broma. She currently lives in Brno, Czech Republic. |
